If the offesive player with the disc hits the defender in the face with the disc during a fake. Is this not a turnover to the defensive player? Or if it is not a turnover then should the stall count not start at the last count? |

Great question! This happens more then you would think. Not always smacking the marker in the face, but hitting them with the disc.
USUALLY when this happens, the EASIEST way to avoid an argument(or discussion) on the field is to stop, Make sure the players are okay. Continue on from the last stall count. why? here i go.
In previous games when this has happened, once a foul is called BOTH sides call it on the other person. Against the thrower for hitting the marker, and against the marker for an illegal position on the thrower(entering their bubble) causing the thrower to hit the marker. When this happens and both teams contest, the disc always goes back to the thrower anyway.
I looked at the rules and didnt see anything SPECIFICALLY to this incident. If anyone else did, please post the ruling and the rule #.
Hope it helped. |

Even if the offensive player fouls the defensive player it is not a turnover. For example if as I'm throwing I push the marker away causing him to fall, I have committed a foul and if the marker calls it, the disc should come back to me and the stall count should start where ever the marker had left off, although if he was at stall 9, he might have to go to stall 8. I have no time to look it up at the moment, but I thought I would give my two cents worth. |
