Hi Victor,
I've played 40 minute halves and 45 minute halves before. As with most things Ultimate I think it is up to the teams before the game. In "regular season" where we have a 2 hour time slot - either work with a 5 minute warm up and a 5-10 minute half time break.
As for last point - usually last point is called but I don't recall a rule surrounding this. Most often, the time remaining in the game is discussed - this is what quite often determines last point. This is what happened on Monday. Sandy and I told people in the change over after the 10-9 point that there was about 5 and a half minutes remaining in the game. Usually that is sufficient for two more points but in the case of Monday's game the point went well over the buzzer :-)
On the sidelines Sandy and I were discussing playing an extra point if the score was tied. In this case it wasn't so we called the game.
I don't think I even answered your question - typical for me :-)
Long story short - I don't know if there is official House Rules - but seeing as Ultimate is such a friendly sport - I usually leave it up to the captains.

There are official house rules. They are currently documented under About DUC\DUC Constitution, Bylaws and Policies. (I am only mentioning it in case anyone is looking for them). |

40 minute halves
Both captains should time the halves and out of courtesy tell each other when the time has been reached. If a point is scored with even as little as 1 second remaining another point must be played. If the point is scored after time has expired then the game is over. Unless it is playoffs and the game is tied and then another point should be played. |
