Does anyone have an opinion on which summer field, Sherwood Park or Deer Valley, is a better field? I have to cancel one of them. Take into consideration the field conditions, field size, the field direction and parking when giving your input. |

Personally I like Deer Valley. At Sherwood one team gets the sun in their eyes since it’s East-West compared to North-south |

In my opinion, Deer Valley is a better field overall.
Sherwood's field can be pretty hard. Especially the east end by the road has had sparse grass the last few years. Winds tend to be quite gusty and unpredictable there too, causing upwind points to be almost impossible or at least a huge grind. Finally, for those with kids, the playground is down the hill and can't be seen from the field. On the other hand, the school parking lot has lots of room.
Deer Valley has much nicer grass and the winds are less annoying. Also, for those with small kids, you can see the playground from the field. The parking situation is a bit tight but it is possible to park on the street. |

Good points so far - I prefer Deer Valley - better field, less wind.
Sherwood also has baseball games sometimes and there is that dreaded foul ball factor in the parking lots.
On the other hand it is much closer to Ritson fields - which may be a factor for Sunday players with the 5pm / 7pm double header.

Also prefer Deer Valley and at least it has somewhat of a parking lot. Field better overall imo.
Would they be painting there as well or just Ritson? |
