Typically, teams have either been playing to a score of 15 or to a predetermined time cap such as 8:40 for a 7 pm start time. Here are some different scenarios that could happen at the end of a game. 1. If the game is tied when time expires the point is finished and the team that scores wins the game. 2. If time expires and then the final point results in a tie, another point must be played to determine the winnner. (In our league we do allow ties so if both teams agree that the tie stands then both teams will be awarded 2 points for the tie). 3. If a point is scored anytime just prior to the time cap (even if it is only a few seconds) then another point should be played. Captains must agree on which watch they are using as their official time keeper to avoid confusion. This rule only needs to be used when one team scores just prior to the time cap to give them a one point lead. This rule prevents teams from taking their time getting out on to the field so that time expires. I know noone in our league would try this but in other leagues I have seen it tried. |
